Intro to the Gospel

Week 4

  • Luke 9:28-13:17

  • John 7:10-8:59

This week we look at how Jesus reveals his deity to his disciples. There continues to be rising tensions between Jesus and the Pharisees. Jesus continues not only to teach but also perform healing miracles on the sabbath.

People & Places

  • Mary & Martha
These sisters live in the village of Bethany just outside of Jerusalem. Later on, their brother Lazarus will play a pivotal role in the ministry of Jesus.

  • Tyre & Sidon
These ancient port cities are on the Mediterranean, north of the Sea of Galilee. Jesus uses them as examples of how gentiles would be receptive to the gospel.

  • Mount of Olives
A mountain ridge just east of Jerusalem, much of this area had been used as a cemetery for over a thousand years by the time of Jesus and remains so today. It is referenced several times in the Old Testament and is the location where Jesus ascended to heaven after His resurrection.
